One of the first things I clarified was his name: not Vladimir, just Vlad. Junior Vlad Munteanu has traveled practically everywhere – Vietnam, Japan, Belgium, and the Netherlands, to name a few. Vlad is of Romanian descent and he also speaks the Romanian language, he introduced himself “Eu sunt Vlad” which means “I am Vlad” in Romanian.

Since Vlad has traveled to so many places, I asked him which place had been his favorite.

“I’ve visited probably over 60 [countries],” he replied.  “I’d say [my favorites] are France, Thailand, Romania. Mexico [is] pretty cool too.”

Throughout his travels around the world, Vlad has met many different types of people, including his girlfriend, Laura. Although she lives across the world, in Bucharest, Romania, Vlad visits her there almost monthly.

Aside from Vlad’s nomadic side, he is also a technology wiz. Vlad can write in Java and a little bit of Python, both of which are coding languages.

“My parents bought me a computer when I was way too young… I’ve been jailbreaking and hacking iPhones for awhile,” Vlad explained, although his current phone is not jailbroken. “I have like six other iPhones.”

Vlad is a huge Apple fan and he owns many Apple products. “I got my first Apple computer when I first moved overseas,” Vlad said.

Beforehand, Vlad had a PC. “I am currently working on developing an iOS Application, which I hope to get published,” Vlad continued. “It’s gonna be a messaging service.”

Not only does Vlad have a nomadic life and a techy background, he also has an impressive streetwear style. Vlad likes to wear OFF WHITE, Supreme, and other high end brands.

Thinking of brands as quickly as possible, I asked, “Do you like Thrasher?” He simply said, “Nah, I don’t really own much Thrasher. We used to go to Paris a lot, I’d get stuff there.”

With such a wide range of interests and activities, you could call Vlad a jack-of-all-trades. While many students at GMHS do a wide array of activities, Vlad’s interests are even more spread out, such as frequently traveling, coding, a few sports, and dressing modern.
